Suspect Beat 62-Year-Old Man To Death With A Hammer, Arrested The Next Day In The Victim's Car: Report

A suspect beat a man to death with a hammer, and police said they arrested the killer the next day in the victim’s vehicle.
On Aug. 16, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported death in Timmonsville, South Carolina.
Investigators found Jasper McKithen, 62, dead in the home after he was reported missing hours earlier, according to WPDE.
A suspect hit the 62-year-old in the head, neck and side with a hammer, according to the sheriff’s office.
Malcolm James Jenkins, 30, was identified as the suspect. He was stopped by police the next day driving the victim’s vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
He tried to run from a traffic stop but was arrested.
Jenkins was charged with murder and is being held in a South Carolina jail without bond. Officials have not released a motive in the case.
