A woman left her kids at a lake and said she was going to get water but never returned, police said. Now, she faces child neglect charges.
According to WSPA, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office responded to Lake Hartwell in upstate South Carolina around 3:45 p.m. on June 13. There, deputies found three children between the ages of 12 and 15.
The children were found on an island by a passing boater.

Deputies said the children reported that they were camping the night before with their mom Courtney Danielle Taylor, and her boyfriend, Eric Michael Elrod, according to WSPA.
The two left in the morning and Taylor told the kids she was going to get water, the report noted. But she never returned.
Police learned Elrod was wanted on drug charges as well. Taylor was arrested by deputies and charged with unlawful neglect of a child, WSPA noted. Deputies are now trying to find Elrod.
