A 26-year-old man was shot and killed in a South Carolina apartment complex and now police say four suspects have been arrested in connection to the shooting.
Around 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 22, police said they responded to a call of shots fired at The Estates apartments in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
At the scene, officials said they found the victim, later identified as 26-year-old Deshawn Barnes, unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation began and police said detectives were able to identify and arrest four suspects involved in the case, WSOC-TV reported.
Among the arrests, police said 21-year-old Jaelon Devon Kelly and 19-year-old James Bernard Williams II were charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a crime of violence, conspiracy to violate South Carolina’s drug law and first-degree possession of marijuana.
Authorities also said two juvenile females were arrested and charged with conspiracy to violate South Carolina’s drug law.
Neighbors of Barnes spoke with WSOC-TV and stated shootings aren’t a new thing at this apartment complex.
“Well, it feels unsafe now. Two people died in the past year. Gunshots both times. That kind of makes me wonder how safe is this place," resident David Lannone told the TV station.
