A murder suspect in Alabama was taken into custody in connection to the murder of a man at a Cajun restaurant, authorities said.
Shortly before noon on June 3, Jerry Jewayne Jones, 39, of Birmingham is accused of gunning down 35-year-old Andres James Taylor Johnson in the parking lot outside Seafood King in Homewood during an altercation, police said.
Johnson later died at a local hospital.
The suspect fled the scene in a Ryder box truck and got into a brief police chase but was stopped a short time later, according to Al.com reported.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office later determined the victim's cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the chest, the Trussville Tribune reported.
Jones was booked into jail in Homewood but was expected to be transferred to the Jefferson County jail on a $250,000 bond.
