Around 1 a.m. on June 11, police said the shooting took place after the intruders showed up to a 19-year-old’s birthday party at a home in Antioch, according to the Antioch Police Department.
The gunfire prompted the partygoers to panic, and they fled in multiple directions – some of them with gunshot wounds, police said. Many of the victims drove themselves to area hospitals to be treated for their injuries.
Once police arrived at the scene, they found a large crowd and shooting victims outside the home.
A total of seven people were shot, including the 18-year-old woman who died of her injuries at a hospital, authorities said. Police have not released her identity.
Police said the other victims range in age from 18 to 20 years old and all suffered gunshot wounds that weren’t considered life threatening.
