Former Sheriff's deputies charged with more than 100 criminal charges for sex crimes involving animals, kids: report
A former official with a Louisiana sheriff’s office faces more than 100 criminal charges for sex crimes involving animals and children, authorities said.
Christopher Cassidy was a corporal with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, according to WDSU. He was fired before he was arrested this week.
He is accused of dozens of sex crimes involving both animals and children, according to the report. But officials have released few specifics about the case.
Officials charged Cassidy with 28 counts of possession of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13. He was also charged with 110 counts of sexual abuse involving animals.
“I hold all of our employees to the highest standard. When a public servant betrays the trust of the community, that individual must face the consequences,” Sheriff Randy Smith said in a statement, according to WDSU.
Police continue to investigate the case.
