Texas Man Accused Of Killing Woman Over Stolen Shoes, Police Say
A dispute over shoes at a corner store ended with one woman dead and a man behind bars for murder, authorities in Texas said.
Shortly after 6 p.m. on Oct. 22, police in San Antonio said surveillance video shows a group that included the suspect, later identified as Jeremiah Joe Anthony Villareal, 20, in a grey sedan get into an argument with 24-year-old Esmeralda Salas in the Pik Nik parking lot, KENS5 reported.
Around 15 seconds later, Villareal allegedly can be seen on camera shooting the woman multiple times with a black semi-automatic handgun and killing her, police said.
He then allegedly fled the scene in the vehicle.
Villareal was apprehended in connection with the case after a detective noticed his distinctive haircut and shaved eyebrow, according to WOAI-TV.
During the investigation into the fatal shooting, two witnesses claimed the woman stole a pair of shoes during an earlier burglary from the group that approached her.
Villareal faces a first-degree murder charge and his bond was set at $250,000, online records show.
