A 62-year-old woman asked a person if she could use his phone, then the gunshots started. The woman was killed and months later, police said they have arrested the suspect.
Last week, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced deputies arrested Tasmine Boatwright in connection to the case.
On Aug. 27, deputies responded to Nashville Avenue in the Orlando area for a reported shooting. When police arrived, they found Loleta Young, 62, with gunshot wounds, according to WESH.
She was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A witness said Young approached him and asked to use his phone, according to the report. Young said she had gotten into a fight with someone at 7-Eleven.
Moments later gunshots started, and the suspect was seen running away while wearing a black ski mask.
According to WESH, police later found the mask and tested the DNA. Investigators identified Boatwright as the suspect, and he was arrested. Boatwright was charged with second-degree murder.
