After more than week on the run, cops arrest suspect in shooting that left 1 dead, 2 hurt
One person was killed and two others were hurt in a shooting more than a week ago, and now police said they have arrested the suspect.
On March 28, the Union County Sheriff’s Office in Florida announced the arrest of Anthony Lydell George, 56. He was charged with murder and attempted murder.
Around 10 p.m. on March 19, George was involved in a shooting that left three victims, according to the sheriff’s office. William Hope, 35, died in the incident.
One victim was released from the hospital, and another remains in serious but stable condition, according to the sheriff’s office.
On March 28, George was arrested after a nationwide search, according to the sheriff’s office. He was arrested in Gainesville, Florida.
“Our agency has worked non-stop to see the apprehension on Anthony George and to bring justice to the victims,” Sheriff Brad Whitehead said. “Our prayers continue to go out to the Hope Family and victims involved in this tragic incident. Thank you to the many hard working law enforcement officers that assisted on this investigation and to all the citizens that provided information.”
