Police Say a California Man Tried to Shoplift at Kohl’s. Now, He's Behind Bars for Attempted Murder.
Police in California busted a man for shoplifting and then discovered he was wanted in connection with an attempted murder, authorities said.
On May 8, police in Manteca said the department’s organized retail crime unit assisted a loss prevention team at Kohl’s after a man and woman were detained for suspected retail theft and identity theft, KTXL reported.
According to police, the man initially provided officers with a fake name, but investigators were later able to positively identify him.
The pair were both arrested on charges of identity theft, retail theft, possession of a narcotic and drug paraphernalia, KTXL reported.

An investigation determined the man was wanted in both Stanislaus and Mendocino Counties for multiple felonies, including an attempted murder charge, law enforcement officials said.
