Florida woman allegedly got into dispute with her sister that escalated into fatal shooting, sheriff says
A Florida woman is accused of shooting her sister dead after the two got into a dispute, authorities said.
Shortly before 3:30 p.m. on March 25, police responded to the report of a disturbance at a Merritt Island home and found Kapricia Bishop suffering a fatally gunshot wound, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said.
The following morning, officers took Bishop’s sister, Brittany Bishop-Gillison, 30, into custody and booked her into the Brevard County jail on suspicion of first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm.
“Based on evidence collected and statements gathered during the investigation, agents believe that the shooting occurred during an argument between the sisters that began inside the residence,” Tod Goodyear of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said.
“As the argument continued outside,” he claimed, “Bishop-Gillison armed herself with a firearm and discharged it, striking the victim and causing her death.”
Bishop-Gillison’s bail was set at $750,000.
