An investigation began and it was determined Eric Harmon intentionally set the fire that killed his mother, deputies said. Officials did not release what allegedly caused Eric Harmon to start the fire.

Eric Harmon has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, according to authorities.

He is being held in the Pickens County Detention Center, officials said. Bond has not been set in his cases as in South Carolina only a circuit court judge can set bond on a murder charge.
