A 70-year-old man in St. Louis, Missouri, opened fire on police and a woman at a home, killing the female, officers said.
Around 11:30 p.m. on July 4, police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 5300 block of Ruskin Avenue, where they met the victim, Gail Keys, on her front porch, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
As Keys walked into her home with officers following behind her, police say Samuel Bailey opened fire from inside the home.
Keys was killed in the shooting and Bailey allegedly continued to fire until he was arrested in an alley near the home, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
No officers fired their weapons and Bailey was not injured, police say.
One officer went to the hospital for treatment after suffering a bruise to his head.
Bailey was charged by the Circuit Attorney’s Office with murder, five counts of assault on a law enforcement officer, six counts of armed criminal action, one count of first-degree burglary and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm.
