Maryland Man Arrested In Connection To Fatal Stabbing Of His Sister, Police Mum On Motive
A Maryland man faces a murder charge after he allegedly stabbed his older sister to death, law enforcement officials said.
According to the Prince George’s County Police, 34-year-old Timothy Edwards of Chillum is accused of killing Nashanna Belnavis, 38, on July 7 in Hyattsville.
Around 4:50 p.m., the department said officers responding to a call about “unknown trouble” discovered Belnavis inside an apartment “suffering from trauma to the body.”
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers conducting a preliminary investigation into Belnavis’ murder identified Edwards as a suspect in the case.
“For reasons that remain under investigation, the suspect fatally stabbed the victim,” police said.
Edwards faces charges of first- and second-degree murder as well as assault.
He was being held without bond.
Police have not released a possible motive for the crime, and the incident remains under investigation.
