Substitute Teacher in Nebraska Caught Naked in Backseat of Car With 17-Year-Old Student: Police

Police in Nebraska say they caught a substitute teacher in the backseat of her car with a 17-year-old student and arrested her.

Around 3 a.m. on April 13, deputies were called about a suspicious vehicle on a dead end road in Elkhorn, according to documents obtained by WOWT.

Once at the scene, police found two people in the backseat of a Honda sedan. One of those people jumped in the front seat and tried to flee, but crashed into a yard a few blocks away, officials said.

The driver — the 17-year-old boy — ran from the scene, but officers found him more than an hour later wearing only underwear and a t-shirt.

Back in the car, police found 45-year-old Erin Ward in the backseat trying to get dressed, authorities said.

Officers spotted an Omaha Public Schools identification card in the car, which is when Ward said she was a substitute teacher at Burke High School and other Omaha schools.

Ward admitted to having sex with the driver and told officers he is a 17-year-old student at one of the schools where she worked, officials said.

The vehicle belonged to Ward and her spouse. Police said both Ward and the teen received medical attention for minor injuries from the crash.

Ward was arrested and charged with felony sexual abuse by a school employee, police said.
