A man has been arrested after he allegedly shot and killed a man in a Mississippi casino last week.
Around 12:30 a.m. Sept. 18, the Biloxi Police Department got multiple 911 calls about a man shooting a pistol inside the Golden Nugget Casino, located in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Additional 911 calls indicated one man was shot and the suspect fled the scene, according to Biloxi police.
Officers arrived in the area and arrested the suspect, Jereme Lamond Jones, 30, of Mobile, Alabama, who was armed with a pistol, in the area of Biloxi Bay Bridge.
Additional officers cleared the scene and found a man who appeared to be suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to police.
Emergency first aid was provided, but he was declared dead at the scene, according to police.
The victim has been identified as a 41-year-old Black man from Gulfport, Mississippi. His name has not been released.
Police determined that Jones and the victim were involved in a fight outside the casino. The victim then allegedly ran into the casino. Police say Jones followed and fired multiple close-range shots at the victim on the gaming floor.
No one else was injured, and it’s currently unknown whether Jones and the victim knew each other before meeting at the casino or what led up to the fight, according to authorities.
Jones has been charged with first-degree murder and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. His bond was set at $1 million.
