‘Your Mom Will Be Fine’: Las Vegas Man Accused Of Shooting Girlfriend Whose Son, 6, Says ‘Got Angry’ At Suspect
A man in Las Vegas allegedly murdered his girlfriend after she got angry with him, investigators said her young son claimed.
Shortly after 1 a.m. on Oct. 27, a 6-year-old boy in Las Vegas went to his neighbor’s home and said his mother was shot, an arrest report obtained by KVVU-TV states.
The neighbor phoned police and responding officers found a woman, identified as Yetundi Yvonne Negrita Maples, fatally shot in the head.
Police said a neighbor reported hearing arguing followed by loud bangs come from the home Maples shared with her live-in boyfriend, Ishmil Swafford.
The eyewitness then saw Maple’s son leave the residence and heard him say, “You hurt my mom” to who was described as an older Black man, according to the report.
In response, the report states, the man told the child, “Your mom will be fine.” The man then left the scene on a motorcycle.
The boy told investigators Swafford said “he didn’t do it” but the boy claimed Swafford shot his mother because she “got angry,” police wrote in the report.
According to the arrest report, earlier in the evening, Maples and Swafford went to a convenience store, where Swafford allegedly got into a physical altercation with a clerk.
According to police, the couple left on a motorcycle after Swafford was struck with a bat.
Officers arrested Swafford and he was being held without bail.
