SWAT team arrests man after 76-year-old’s body found in storage unit in California, cops say

A 76-year-old's remains were found in a storage unit and police say they have arrested a suspect in connection to his homicide.
On Oct. 7, detectives used a search warrant at Purely Storage in Sonora, California, during a missing person investigation, according to the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office.
Detectives found a dead man inside the storage unit, prompting a death investigation, according to the sheriff's office. The victim was identified as Craig Arthur Hale, 76.
Through several weeks of investigations, detectives identified Steven Mathew Berrigan, 49, as the suspect. He was arrested recently by SWAT team members this week.
In addition to being charged with murder, Berrigan has also been charged with stealing Hale’s vehicle and identity theft.
Berrigan is currently in custody in the Tuolumne County Dambacher Detention Center.
Police have not released a possible motive for the killing.
