Texas man charged with wife's homicide, police say he failed in murder-suicide attempt

A Texas man was charged with his wife’s homicide after police say the woman’s body was found after an apparent murder-suicide attempt.
Around 6 a.m. on June 2, Houston police officers responded to a person down call at an apartment complex.
Officers found a man, Mouafak Mahmo Chami, 75, laying on the with severe injuries from an apparent suicide attempt, in which he jumped from a third story balcony, according to Houston police.
From there, Houston Fire Department personnel used a ladder to enter the open patio door to the apartment, police said.
Once inside, they found a woman, Farida Zouwawi, 69, suffering from blunt force trauma and paramedics pronounced her dead, authorities said.
Chami was taken to a nearby hospital and is currently hospitalized in critical condition, according to police.
During their investigation, neighbors told detectives they heard loud arguing in the apartment prior to this incident.
After meeting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, murder charges were filed against Chami, authorities said. Chami remains in the hospital, but is expected to survive, according to police.
