Teacher’s Aide In Tennessee Arrested For Having Sexual Relationship With Teenage Student, Police Say
A teacher’s aide in Tennessee was taken into custody after a months-long investigation revealed she and a 17-year-old student allegedly were in a sexual relationship, authorities said.
A grand jury indicted Shaundra F. Cartwright earlier this month for statutory rape by an authority figure and continuous sexual abuse of a child, WKRN reported.
Cartwright, who worked at a middle school in White House, was suspended from her job without pay pending the outcome of her charges.
The investigation began on June 8 when a family member of the teenage student contacted police in Millersville about the claims.
According to officials, the pair allegedly began a relationship about two years ago and had sex around 15 times by the time the family member reported Cartwright to police.
The teacher's aide and student allegedly messaged each other on Snapchat.
Cartwright was arrested on Aug. 9 and was being held at the Sumner County jail.
