A Colorado Teen Wanted to Ask Permission to Take Homecoming Pictures on a Homeowner’s Property. Instead, He Got Shot in the Face.
A Colorado man is facing charges after he allegedly shot a 17-year-old boy in the face after he went to a home to ask permission to take homecoming photos there, authorities said.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that deputies arrived at the home on Pleasant Park Road in Conifer, about 35 miles southwest of Denver, at around 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 10 in reference to a report of trespassers.
They arrived to find "a juvenile male bleeding heavily from his face, as a second juvenile applied pressure to his friend's wounds with a t-shirt."
Brent Metz, 38, was standing alongside the boys when deputies arrived. Before the teen was transported to the hospital by ambulance, he told deputies Metz had shot him through the windshield of his car.
According to the sheriff's office, the victim told deputies he and his friend drove to the property to ask if they could take homecoming photos at the location. They parked outside the home's gate and jumped the fence to walk up the driveway with the aim of speaking to the homeowner.
When no one responded, they walked around the property trying to locate the homeowner with no success. The boys returned to their vehicle and began writing a note for the homeowner.

"While they were doing this, a man they had never seen before pulled up next to them, exited the truck he was driving, and fired a round through the windshield, striking the 17-year-old driver in the face," the sheriff's office said.
The homeowner, who wasn't home at the time, had called 911 to report the trespassers, and also called Metz, her boyfriend, the sheriff's office said. According to KUSA, Metz is a council member for the town of Mountain View.
