Cops say teen shot and killed 23-month-old child he was babysitting while unloading his gun

A teenager has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after a child he was babysitting was shot and killed.
Around 7:30 p.m. Sept. 3, officers from Winston-Salem, North Carolina police responded to a reported shooting on Martindale Road, according to FOX 8.
When police arrived, officers didn’t find anyone but learned the victim was taken to the hospital by car, FOX 8 reported.
Officers saw the car on the highway and called for Forsyth County Emergency Services, who took the victim to a local hospital, according to FOX 8.
The child, identified as 23-month-old Deon Stover, died at the hospital, FOX 8 reported.
Police learned that Rico Smith, 19, and his girlfriend were babysitting Deon at a home at the time of the shooting, according to FOX 8.
Smith was allegedly trying to unload a handgun when he fired it and hit Deon, FOX 8 reported.
Smith is charged with involuntary manslaughter, according to FOX 8. He turned himself in this week and received a $15,000 bond.
