Pennsylvania Teen Accused of Killing Mother After She Took Phone Away — ‘I’m the Reason My Mom is Dead’

A 13-year-old girl in Pennsylvania has been arrested after police say she is accused of killing her mom following an argument over a cell phone.
Around 12:30 p.m. on March 29, officers responded to a call regarding an unresponsive woman, according to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department.
Responding officers found a 44-year-old woman with apparent wounds to her torso and head. Officials said they also located another person with stab wounds and a 13-year-old, who was detained.
According to an affidavit obtained by WBRE, the teen told police, “I don’t have my phone because my mom took it before our fight,” and “I’m the reason my mom is dead.”
The affidavit states she also admitted, “I killed my mom and she’ll never forgive me if she is alive.”
Authorities said the mother was pronounced dead at the and an autopsy is pending.
The second victim found at the home was an 11-year-old boy, but his injuries were not life-threatening and he is expected to survive, police said.

Court documents show investigators found padlocks on the kitchen cabinets and drawers in the home. However, a drawer used to store cutlery appeared to be missing and its padlock was found on the ground.
The teen was arrested and will be charged as an adult, officials said. She faces criminal homicide and aggravated assault charges.
