Miami police detective Nestor Amores told WPLG the age of the unsolved murder victim is troubling for him as the lead investigator on the cold case.

“It makes it even harder when it’s a juvenile,” Amores said.

According to Herrera’s loved ones, the young victim enjoyed karate and video games and he was a loving brother before his cold case murder over a decade ago.

Anabel Herrera told WPLG in a new interview that her stepson “had a future, then all of a sudden it’s gone.”

“It’s unexplainable,” she said. “We still have no answers. We don’t know why he was shot, who shot him.”

There is a reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case. Anyone who may have information about Bryan Herrera’s shooting death should contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
