Teenager Arrested Two Months After Man Found Fatally Shot In South Carolina Park, Police Say
Authorities announced the arrest of a teenager in South Carolina suspected of slaying a man found dead in a park late last spring.
Following a two-month investigation, on Aug. 6, police in Rock Hill took Zi’Quavious Jkwon La’Travis Caldwell, 17, into custody in connection with the shooting death of 20-year-old Terron “TJ” Hubert, WSOC-TV reported.
On June 6, a woman found Hubert’s body near a walking trail at Quigley Park around 6:30 a.m.
According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, the victim had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Caldwell faces charges of murder, armed robbery with a deadly weapon, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was charged as an adult and booked into the York County jail without bond.
Deputies believe Caldwell shot Hubert after the two got into a dispute about Caldwell allegedly stealing money and other items from the victim shortly before midnight on June 5.
Sheriff Kevin Tolson said detectives “worked relentlessly for countless hours to develop a suspect in this case.”
“Thankfully with this development we hope the grieving family can find some rest,” he said of Caldwell’s arrest.
Hubert’s mother, Quadrena Adams, said losing her son was devastating for his loved ones and “consumed us daily.”
“Every day I think about him being left out there all night, being left out there by himself,” she said. “I feel like I [got] sucker punched.”
