Georgia Teenager Behind Bars In Connection With Fatal Shooting Last Spring, Police Say
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced the arrest of a teenager who they believe is responsible for the fatal shooting of a man last spring.
Christopher Tyreq James, 18, is charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in connection with the May 2021 killing of Derrick Herring in Cairo, WALB reported.
Police responding to a call about shots fired found Herring, 56, lying dead near a roadway.
According to WALB, James was arrested not far from the scene where the victim was gunned down. No motive has been released in the case.
James was being held at the Grady County jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
