Teenage Girl, Boyfriend Arrested In Connection With Her Father’s Stabbing Death, Police Say
A teenager couple are in custody in connection with the fatal stabbing of the girl’s elderly father at his apartment, authorities in Nebraska said.
On Oct. 3, the Lincoln Police Department arrested Sallie Gilmer, 15, and her 16-year-old boyfriend, Isaac Honigschmidt. Gilmer faces charges of first-degree murder, and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. Honigschmidt was charged with aiding or abetting murder in the first degree.
According to police, shortly after 4 p.m. on the day of the arrests, officers responding to the report of an unresponsive male found 70-year-old Jesse Gilmer dead.
The victim’s daughter, Sallie Gilmer, was present in the residence and told police she found her father suffering stab wounds when she arrived home from school.
Detectives interviewed the girl as well as her boyfriend, Honigschmidt, at the Lincoln Police Department.
“With information obtained during the interviews, digital evidence and evidence collected at the apartment, both Sallie Gilmer and Isaac Honigschmidt were arrested and placed at the Lancaster County Youth Services Center,” police said.
The investigation is ongoing, and police have not released further details about the murder case, including a possible motive.
