Two people have been indicted in connection to the shooting death of a toddler and now are behind bars, authorities said.
In March, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents joined local police in investigating the shooting death of a 2-year-old.
On March 23, police went to a home in Talbott, Tennessee, and found Coltyn Lee Gridley, 2, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital, where he died a few days later.
Investigators said they identified the child’s mother Destinie Leann-Marie Getchey and Christopher Kyle Ray Smith were responsible for the death.
However, authorities did not provide any details on how the child was shot or who pulled the trigger.
Smith was charged with aggravated child neglect, while Getchey was charged with aggravated child neglect and reckless homicide.
Gretchy was arrested this week in North Carolina, while Smith was taken into custody in Tennessee.
