On July 1, Memphis police said Kourtney Walton, 32, took the keys to Norman Lott’s, 67, Nissan Titan truck during a fight inside a motel room, which spilled out to the parking lot.

Walton got into the truck, which is when Lott opened the driver’s side door and begged Walton not to steal his truck, officials said.

The suspect accelerated in reverse, which knocked the victim to the ground, where he was hit by the truck, police said.

Surveillance video was found, which showed the truck stop and then back out onto the street, WREG reported.

Police arrived on the scene and found Lott in a northbound lane with bruises, cuts and marks across his legs, officials said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

An arrest warrant was issued for Walton last month, and he was arrested by Memphis police on Aug. 2.

Walton was charged with first-degree murder, theft of property and violation of parole, authorities said.
