An early morning brawl outside a bar in Texas ended with a man in custody who’s accused of fatally stabbing a member of the Air Force and injuring several others, authorities said.
Around 1 a.m. on Oct. 2, the San Angelo Police Department responded to a report of a fight at Whiskey River Saloon, the San Angelo Standard-Times reported.
“Upon arrival, officers received information that multiple persons had been stabbed,” officials said. “Officers arrived on scene and located a 28-year-old male with stab wounds.”
According to police, Ray Vera, 40, got into a verbal dispute with the 28-year-old and other service members “attached to Goodfellow Air Force Base” that then escalated and “resulted in an altercation in the parking lot at this location.”
The victims were rushed to an area hospital, where the 28-year-old man died from his stab wounds.
Police charged Vera with murder and he was being held at the Tom Green County jail in lieu of a $1,002,409 bond.
