Texas Woman Accused of Driving While Intoxicated, Fleeing Crash in School Bus with 14 Children

A 65-year-old school bus driver in Texas was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after she allegedly hit a car and fled the scene in a bus with 14 children inside, according to police.
Around 7:45 a.m. on May 1, Sherry Francis was driving a Giddings school district bus when she rear-ended another vehicle, the Giddings Police Department said.
Police noted there were no injuries reported and damage to the vehicle was minimal.
According to authorities, Francis was “impaired by a substance other than alcohol” and she was taken into custody. A blood draw was done at that time.

Francis was charged with driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, a state jail felony, officials said.
She was released after posting bail of $7,500.
