A dispute over ownership of a pup by a former couple ended with gunfire at a local dog park, police in Texas said.
This week, police arrested Regan Richey, 25, in connection to the case.
Around 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 21, police in Frisco, Texas, responded to reported gunfire at a dog park. When police officers arrived, they learned two people who used to date were disputing ownership of a shared dog.
Witness said one of the people and family members retrieved the dog from the park, police said.
That is when Richey began shooting at them and their vehicles, according to police. Some of the rounds hit nearby cars.
Richey was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and now faces up to 40 years in prison.
