Personal trainer who once warned women about ‘gym creeper’ guys accused of secretly recording clients
A Texas personal trainer who calls himself the “hips whisperer” allegedly made illicit recordings of his clients, police said.
In August 2020, John Nance Benton, 41, allegedly recorded images in a bathroom or changing room, The Dallas Morning News reported, citing court documents.
Benton was booked into the Denton County Jail on a charge of invasive visual recordingand he was released after posting a $20,000 bond.
John Benton Model Fitness released a statement on Instagram about the incident: “We take this matter very seriously, and we are immediately pausing all classes and consultations until we determine how to best continue to serve our clients.”

JB Model Fitness said Benton was stepping away from the company, effective immediately.
“Our clients, their respect and their safety are of the utmost importance to us at JB Model Fitness. We exist to serve them and that will always remain our top priority,” the statement reads.
Benton reportedly has worked as a trainer for everything from the Miss Dallas and Miss Dallas Teen pageants to Victoria’s Secret models and Miss USA contestants.
Benton, who offers online fitness classes, told the publication The Bridal Journey, “All my clients can do my workouts from home if they want so they can avoid that gym creeper guy that is in every gym.”
