A man in Texas has been arrested after he allegedly sexually abused an 11-year-old girl for more than six years, according to authorities.
On Nov. 17, the child reported the alleged assaults to elementary school staff in Woodway, according to KWTX. The alleged victim claimed 37-year-old Andrew Aubry started abusing her when she was five years old and the alleged incidents would occur when her mother worked or was not home.
The girl described how Aubry allegedly would sometimes sexually assault her after he came home “stumbling” drunk, KWTX reported, citing authorities. She reportedly told investigators she would stay in her room to avoid Aubry when he was home.
Police said they spoke with the child’s mother, who said her daughter was lying and Aubry was an “idiot, immature and inappropriate, but not a sexual predator,” KWTX reported.
The girl’s mother said Aubry has been unemployed for five years and he stayed home to care for her children. The mother also allegedly told police that her daughter lied about being sexually assaulted so she could move in with her grandparents, officials said.

Authorities said detectives tried to call Aubry several times, but they could not reach him. Aubry eventually phoned detective back, but he refused to speak with them under the advice of his lawyer, according to officials.
Police arrested Aubry on Dec. 16 and charged him with continuous sexual abuse of a child, law enforcement officials said.
