A Texas woman is dead after her husband allegedly stabbed her to death and then failed to kill himself while their 8-year-old daughter was in the home, according to authorities.

Around 4 a.m. on Nov. 1, police responded to a Houston residence after receiving a 911 call about a man who was running around with a knife and experiencing suicidal thoughts, KTRK-TV reported.

Responding officers didn’t hear any noise coming from the house, but as they made their way to the back of the home they spotted the 8-year-old girl running towards the front door, KTRK-TV reported.

"So they go back to the front door and make entry, go inside. The little girl said, 'Daddy's stabbing mommy,'" Lt. R. Willkens from the Houston Police Department said. "They go in, they find both of them in the back bathroom. Both major injuries."
