A Texas mother was arrested after her children were found nude and living in an apartment that had feces stains on the walls and couches, police say.
Samantha Lee Abrego, 25, is facing six counts of child endangerment in connection with the investigation, according to the Brownsville Police Department, Knewz.com reported.
The investigation began after police received "multiple" reports of unattended children seen in the parking lot of the Tropical Garden Apartments, located in Brownsville, recently, according to KRGV.
ValleyCentral reported that police found three children running around the parking lot in the rain; some were nude and barefoot.
Once police determined their apartment number, officers went to speak with the mother, later identified as Abrego.
ValleyCentral reported that a police news release stated that Abrego appeared to have been sleeping as she had a "sluggish demeanor."
Police stated that they noticed a strong stench of feces coming from inside the apartment. They say there were three other children inside at the time.
“Inside the apartment, there were stains of feces on the walls and couches,” police stated. “The children also appeared to have dry stains of feces on their faces.”
