A 68-year-old Texas woman was found dead in her apartment and now police say her grandson has been charged with her murder.
Around 8 a.m. on June 14, Abilene police said they were called an apartment complex when the caller said a deceased woman was inside one of the residences.
When police arrived, officers found Judi Jones, 68, dead inside the home, according to authorities. Police have only said that she had "trauma" and did not provide specifics about how she was killed.
Police said criminal investigation detectives treated the incident as a homicide and looked for possible suspects.
The investigation led to the arrest of 31-year-old Joel Rakesh Laundre Thomas on June 14, officials said.
According to authorities, Thomas is the grandson of Jones, but no motive for the killing has been determined.
Thomas is currently being held at the Taylor County Jail and faces a murder charge, police said.
