A suspect has been arrested after he allegedly murdered a man and then had an hours-long standoff with police.
The suspect refused to come out of a nearby house and did not surrender for “many hours,” even after the SWAT team was called, police spokesman Matt Pesta told The Dallas Morning News.
Around 7 p.m. Aug. 21, Garland police responded to an assault in the 5200 block of Stagecoach Lane in Garland, Texas.
When officers arrived, they found Dominique Jones, 26, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Jones was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, cops say.
Officers learned that the suspect, Kyhari Clines, 26, was inside a nearby house, and it took hours until he voluntarily surrendered and was arrested, according to police.
A gun was recovered when Clines was arrested, police say.
Clines is currently in the Garland Detention Center and is charged with the murder of Jones. No bond has been set.
