Texas Man Admits To Killing 70-Year-Old Victim, But Police Have Yet To Say Why He Killed
A 70-year-old man was found dead and a man 25 years younger confessed to murder, but police are mum on why he allegedly killed.
On April 22, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office in Texas responded to a homicide investigation near Dixon and MLK streets. The victim was identified as Valentine Sanchez, 70.
Investigators identified Christopher Peoples, 45, as a suspect in the case.
That next day, People was arrested in a traffic stop, according to the sheriff’s office. He was charged with evading arrest in a motor vehicle.
While he was in custody, Rusk confessed to the killing, according to police. This week he was charged with capital murder.
But police have not said why Rusk allegedly killed the victim or how they identified him as a person of interest.
Rusk is being held in jail on $1.5 million bond.
