A man in Texas shot his ex’s mom and tied up her teenage brother because he was upset after being kicked out of a home, according to a report.
Last week, police in San Antonio, Texas, charged James Cody Sweetman, 29, with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful restraint in connection to the case.
The shooting happened on Oct. 4, according to KSAT.
An arrest warrant stated that Sweetman was upset because his girlfriend had broken up with him and she was in hiding, the TV station reported.
Sweetman was staying with his ex’s family and her mother wanted him to leave, according to KSAT.
On Oct. 4, Sweetman was moving out of the home and the ex’s 17-year-old brother was helping, according to the report. At one point, Sweetman taped the teen’s hands together and locked him in a shed.
The suspect then went back inside and shot his ex’s mom in the abdomen and hand, according to KSAT.
Sweetman left before police arrived, but he was arrested in the following days.
