Victim found shot to death in Texas home, suspect arrested the next day
A Texas man faces a murder charge for shooting a person to death, authorities said.
Around 9:15 p.m. on March 3, the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in rural Alamo, Texas, for a disturbance.
When deputies arrived, they found a man, Javier Cruz, with a gunshot wound, according to the sheriff’s office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators identified Eric Gonzalo Hernandez, 39, as the suspect in the homicide. Witnesses stated Hernandez shot the victim after an argument. The witnesses also said they heard gunshots and saw Cruz fall to the ground as Hernandez ran from the area.
Police searched for Hernandez, and he was arrested the next day.
Hernandez was charged with murder and his bail was set at $2 million, according to the sheriff’s office.
