19-Year-Old Died From A Gunshot Wound, Police Say They Arrested The Suspect
Police thought they were responding to a vehicle crash, but it turned out to be a murder, according to a report.
This week, the Ector County Sheriff’s Office in Texas received a car about a crash. The initial information said a vehicle was running through a fence and ending up in the middle of a field.
While responding, deputies were told about a possible gunshot victim at the same location, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies arrived at the car and found a 19-year-old with a gunshot wound to the torso.
The victim was identified as Mauricio Israel Islas, 19. He was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injury, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies identified Craig Vaugh Bowers, 35, as the suspect and he was detained at the scene. Investigators have not released a motive in the killing.
Bowers was charged with murder and is being held on $250,000 bond.
