A Texas man fought with his girlfriend over a handgun she pulled from her purse, but he got control of the weapon and killed her, police said.
Around 3 p.m. on Jan. 16, officers were called to investigate a shooting at an apartment complex in Longview, the Longview Police Department said.
At the scene, officials said they found 23-year-old Cyan Winn dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
The arrest report stated her boyfriend, 30-year-old Adrian Devon Grissom, admitted he was yelling in Winn’s face when she took the handgun from her purse and told him to back up, CBS 19 reported.
Grissom said he did not back up but pushed Winn to the ground as she was pulling the gun out of her purse. He then tried to get the gun away from her, according to CBS 19.

Winn was arrested and booked into the Gregg County Jail on the murder charge, officials said. No bond has been set for Winn.
