A 47-year-old Texas mom was found shot to death while caring for her 2-year-old granddaughter and now police say her 15-year-old son has confessed to killing her.
On Nov. 26, officers from the Dallas Police Department were called to a home on the southwest side of the city to investigate reports of an abandoned child, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Once at the scene, police said they discovered the child, who was supposed to be with her grandmother, had been dropped off at her great-grandparent’s house by an unknown individual.
Officials said the great-grandparents were concerned about the well-being of the child’s grandmother, so they requested a welfare check be conducted at the home.
Police arrived at the grandmother’s home and found 47-year-old Aime Salinas-Alvarado dead from a single gunshot wound to the head.

According to authorities, Salinas-Alvarado’s 15-year-old son shot and killed her before taking the toddler to the great-grandparent’s house.
Officials said the teen, who has not been named, then drove his mother’s car to a friend’s house, which is where police found him and took him into custody.
Police questioned the teen, which is when he confessed to killing his mother. However, police have not given a motive for the murder.
The boy was taken to the Henry Wade Juvenile Detention Facility and was charged with capital murder, police said.
A GoFundMe was set up to help pay for Salinas-Alvarado’s funeral expenses. In it, family and friends wrote they are “lost for words” and wish they “could have another moment with her” and asked everyone to “keep her in your hearts and prayers.”
