Murder Suspects Arrested After 16-Year-Old Found Shot To Death And Left Along Texas Road

A 16-year-old girl was found shot to death along the road in Texas and police said they arrested three people in connection to the case.

Around 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 18, sheriff’s deputies in Liberty County, Texas, got a 911 call from a motorist who said a woman was lying along the road.

Police went to the scene and found a dead, Hispanic woman with a gunshot wound, according to the sheriff’s office.

The victim was later identified as 16-year-old Emily Rodriguez-Avila, according to the sheriff’s office.

On Sept. 20, police announced they arrested three people in connection to the case. Kevin Rivera-Ortiz, Joel Garcia-Martinez and Katherine Alvarez-Flores, all face murder charges. Alvarez-Flores was also charged with tampering with or fabricating with physical evidence.

The sheriff’s office said it is still working to determine a motive in the case.

According to KTRK, Rodriguez-Avila was found about 50 miles from where she was last seen alive at work. She was last seen getting into a friend’s car and leaving her job.

Rivera-Ortiz was the victim’s ex-boyfriend, according to KTRK.
