Teenager Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting of Trans Documentary Star
Police in Georgia arrested a suspect in the murder of the transgender star of the documentary Kokomo City, officials announced.
Jemarcus Jernigen, 17, was wanted on warrants and turned himself in to authorities on April 27, WAGA-TV reported.
Jernigan is accused of killing Koko Da Doll, whose documentary covering four Black trans sex workers was recently released. She was at an Atlanta shopping plaza on April 18 when she was fatally shot around 10:45 p.m.
In addition to a murder count, according to WAGA-TV, the teenager now faces charges that include aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
