Christopher Martinez, 21, was taken into custody on Dec. 11 and charged with three counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deadly shooting of a man and two women in Aurora the previous evening, KDVR reported.

According to the Aurora Police Department, officers responded to a wellbeing request around 5:15 p.m. at the home where the victims were later found but nothing appeared suspicious.

Around 7 p.m., police said relatives gained access to the home and discovered the three victims fatally shot.

Police said Martinez “was known” to the man and two women and it didn’t appear as if there was forced entry into the residence.

“The senseless violence is inexplicable,” Aurora’s Interim Police Chief Art Acevedo said of the slayings. “Thanks to the efforts of our dedicated personnel, the suspect has been taken into custody and our community can breathe a collective sigh of relief. Our hearts go out to the family of the victims.”

Law enforcement officials have not disclosed a possible motive for the murders.
