VICTORIA ROSE MILLER WAS MURDERED – AND HER FAMILY HOPES A PODCAST BRINGS HER KILLER TO JUSTICE
It's been 25 years since the brutal murder of Victoria Rose Miller, an 18-year old Florida mom. Despite the case remaining unsolved, police in Boynton Beach launched a new podcast about Miller's life and untimely death, in the hope listeners can offer some answers to the still-unsolved crime.
A horseback rider discovered Miller's body in the brush behind the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge in Boynton Beach – an upscale enclave in Palm Beach County – shortly before noon on May 11, 1996. An autopsy showed Miller was killed by blunt force trauma to the head; her throat was also slit
Miller, who was sometimes called "Rose" by family – was last seen at a party two nights earlier, and was reported missing by her mother.
Her death remains unsolved and her family has been haunted by the tragic end of her life. "We were a loving family," her father Roy Miller has said. "We had money. We did things. We went to Disney."
But despite the older Miller's recollection of his daughter, she had started to act out, running away from home at age 13 and dancing in topless bars by age 16.
Rosebud, a six-episode true crime serial, was produced by the Boynton Beach Police Department and released last year. According to the BBPD, Rosebud "explores Vicky’s life and the days leading up to her death." Unable to provide answers or make any arrests in the case has weighed heavily on the department.
"It is our hope that this series will breathe new life into this investigation and that we can finally catch her killer," the police department website continues.
For Miller's heartbroken family, the podcast "definitely is hopeful," her sister Alexis, now 33, told People magazine in a recent interview. "Everything happened so long ago. To know the case is being looked at again, it feels unreal."
