Argument outside apartment complex leaves man dead, woman accused of murder

An argument heard outside an apartment complex in Virginia was followed by a single gunshot and a woman seen fleeing the scene.
Now, police say a 39-year-old man died and the suspect has been arrested.
Around 8 p.m. on Feb. 10, officers responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex in Fairfax, Virginia, the Fairfax County Police Department said.
Neighbors told police they heard a man and a woman arguing, followed by a single gunshot. A woman was seen running from the scene while the neighbors called 911, police said.
Johnny Lee Robinson III, 39, was shot and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.
Investigators found a suitcase as well as a gun believed to be related to the shooting, authorities said.
Detectives were also got surveillance footage from the apartment complex, which showed the man and woman leaving an apartment prior to the shooting. However, neither of them lived in the apartment complex.
According to authorities, witnesses identified the suspect as 23-year-old Kaitlynn Nicole Nicholas.
A warrant was issued for Nicholas and on Feb. 11, officers took her into custody. She was booked into the Rockingham County Regional Jail without bond, officials said. Nicholas was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, police said.
Police have not released a motive in the case.
