A Virginia man died from injuries he suffered after being assaulted, and now police say the man’s son has been arrested in connection to his murder.
Around 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 16, officers responded to a call of a domestic disturbance in Rustburg, Virginia, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office said.
Medics were called to the scene and took the victim, later identified as Gregory McGann, to the Lynchburg General Emergency Department. He was being treated for an unspecified injury, police said.
Detectives said they identified a suspect in this case, as the victim’s 40-year-old son, Michael Stout, was taken into custody. At the time, he was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and was being held with no bond at the Rustburg Blue Ridge Regional Jail.
Police did not say what led to the alleged assault.
In the afternoon of Jan. 16, officials said the victim died from his injuries.
Authorities said additional charges against Michael Stout would be added, but they would be working with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office to determine what those charges would be.
